The Travel Smarter Guide

About Traveltsg

A practical travel planning publication for people who book their own trips.

Why this site exists

Traveltsg stands for Travel Smarter Guide. We started it because most travel content is about wanting to go somewhere, and very little of it helps once you've decided to go. The questions that make or break a trip are rarely glamorous. Which airport makes sense? Do I need a rental car? Which neighborhood fits? How am I getting back to the hotel at midnight? What's Plan B?

Our working belief is simple: a better trip is usually the result of better planning, not more expensive travel.

Who it's for

We write for people who plan their own trips: couples, families, road trippers, weekend travelers, first-time international travelers and anyone comparing flights and hotels on a budget. Our coverage leans toward the places our readers go most, including the Grand Strand and Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Florida, New York and California, plus the Caribbean and Europe.

What we cover

Six sections hold most of it: trip planning, destination guides, flights, airports, hotels and transportation. Inside those you'll find road trips, packing, travel budgeting, insurance basics, travel safety and the basics of points and miles.
